Bielle was first a sugar refinery founded in Grand Bourg (Marie-Galante) by Nicolas BIELLE and his brother Maximilien BIELLE in 1812. The distillery would have been born around 1923 following the takeover by Georges BAZILE, of which Paul RAMEAUX succeeded him in 1955 before d '' be taken over by the Société d'Exploitation de la Distillerie Bielle (SEDB) headed by Dominique THIERY (nephew of Paul RAMEAUX). Bielle produces one of the best rum in the world, recognized by the public and professionals.
