Sugar factory founded in 1860 by the Poisson family, the estate was then transformed into a distillery in 1916 when it was bought by Edouard Rameau. He will add a steam engine and a copper still and baptize his Rum "Père Labat", in homage to the missionary of the same name, installed in Marie-Galante and who had developed a remedy based on a distillate close to the rum. (according to legend).
In 2015, the distillery carried out a renovation and a new range of rums. A restaurant has also been created on the estate to welcome visitors.
